Birds
Ferry Lodge is ideally situated to
explore the Northern West Coast of the South Island. The Lodge provides
luxurious comfort, great food, selected wines and warm hospitality.
We pride ourselves in being able to spend time with our guests ( Maximum
6). André will be happy to share his extensive knowledge of
the South Island and assist you with your holiday itinerary.
There
is a huge variety of things to see and do and many of our guests schedule
their stay for at least two nights. We offer a complimentary guiding
service, covering the local area, for guests who stay for more that
1 night. Lunch is included in this service.
Birds
Ferry Lodge is located on a terrace overlooking the sea and is
surrounded by an unusual landscape of native forest and pakihi. There
are beautiful views from the Lodge and it is exceptionally peaceful.
A number of native bird species, including the bellbird, visit our
bird-feeding table whilst larger birds soar on the thermals above.
The seldom spotted Fern Bird can be seen and heard in the pakihi adjacent
to the Lodge.
There are gardens and tunnel houses which we will be happy to show.
Most of the vegetables used in the kitchen are home grown and our
free-range hens and ducks provide the best eggs you will ever have
for breakfast.
The
heated (39°C) spa on the deck is the perfect spot to enjoy the
West Coast sunset or the spectacular night sky with a glass of bubbly.
Visiting owls enjoy company by the spa as they eye up the night time
insects.
With
15 years experience in the hospitality industry Alison's cooking is
her forte. All food served at Birds Ferry Lodge is prepared from fresh,
largely homegrown ingredients by her. A cooked breakfast is served
at a time to suit you in the Dining Room, overlooking native bush.
A three course dinner with wine is available from $65 per person when
booked one day in advance.

Guests enjoy the use of their own Lounge area with a log fire and
comfortable leather upholstery. The house bar is available with a
carefully selected range of New Zealand wines. Complimentary Hot and
Cold (Non Alcoholic) beverages are available any time. There is wireless
internet available.
We
also offer a Holistic Revitalising Massage Therapy using a variety
of aromatherapy oils to relax and rejuvenate the body. Why not treat
yourself or your loved one. Bookings are recommended at time of reservation
as this service is subject to availability. $55 per hour or $40 for
30 minutes.
The
Lodge is Smoke Free with ashtrays provided outside for smokers. A
Laundry service for non delicate items is complimentary. Internet
available. Whilst we do not have a landline, mobile phone reception
is of a high standard.
